Put Your Imagination to Work

Add Rustic Serving appeal into your home

Japanese cuisine has been unique due to its custom cooking style and refine eating habits.

Since the 1970s, wooden utensils were largely popular and these days, wooden chopping board as plates are decorative objects used for artistic statements as it presents a rustic appeal to the dish and its surroundings.

In ancient Japanese style cooking before the 1392 Muromachi period, wooden plates and bowls were commonly used to hold dishes and for the serving of food (Joya 2006).

Japanese country style cooking of Omusubi balls (rice balls) includes laying a bamboo mat on wooden chopping board and the placement of seaweed on it.

Musubi literally means to bring your hands in front of you, touching them together, symbolizing in a ritual clapping (Homma 1991).
